To illustrate Emily’s ascent of El Cap at different points in the film, we created a map system that allows viewers to clearly see both her progress and the distance still to go. By utilizing consistent imagery where we could manipulate time of day as well as an informational text label, we gave the viewer a sense of time and place in addition to making her progression easy to follow.

To enhance the emotional impact of Emily’s story, we stylized texts and social media posts to give weight to some of the film’s most poignant moments.
